Rob & the Blueside

A new blues project organized by Rob Tobias in December of 2006 brings together some great players to create a sound that blends blues, jazz, and swing. The group plays originals and classic standards that bring a freshness to the blues.

The line-up includes: Rob Tobias on keyboard/ harmonica/ vocals, Natty “O” on bass/ vocals, Ralph Novak on guitar, and Greg Shaver on drums.  Natty “O” (Etouffe Band) has played with Rob in many bands over the years including making (Rob Tobias and Friends) CDs with guitarist John Fohl (now touring with Dr. John).  Ralph has played with Cool Papa, Hawkeye, and other S.F. Bay blues all-stars and he is a guitar maker (novaxguitars.com) who has made guitars for people all over the world. 

The Rob & The Blueside set includes blues covers like “Help Me”, “Deep Elem Blues, “Sitting on Top of the World”, “Blue Light Boogie”, “Crash on the Levee”, and “Can’t Hold Out.”  The bands version of Tobias originals include “Green is Hot!”, “Hope For The Future”, “The Real Deal”, “Good Time” and “Wealth of Kings”.

The group has been playing locally at parties, clubs, special events and festivals including the Oak Street Speakeasy, The Axe and Fiddle, The Willamette Valley Folk Festival, Peabody’s Pub, Saturday Market and the Friendly Area Neighborhood Picnic.
